Privacy Policy
Effective 20 October 2026 · applies to the Kundali Darpan website and Android app
In short: You sign in with an email address or Google account so that your charts are private to you. Your sign-in details are held by our authentication provider, Clerk. The birth details you enter, the charts you save and your settings stay on your own device, in a space that belongs to your account. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking, and we do not sell or share personal data.
1. Your account
To use Kundali Darpan you create an account with your email address (confirmed with a one-time code) or with Google. Clerk, Inc. stores your name, email address, profile picture (if you sign in with Google), sign-in times and the device and browser used to sign in, so that it can sign you in securely. Clerk acts on our behalf and does not use this information for its own purposes. Birth details and charts are never sent to Clerk.
2. What you enter and where it is kept
To calculate a chart you enter a name, date, time and place of birth (and, optionally, gender, a profile name, title, email or phone shown on your own profile card). All of this is stored only on your device — in the app's private storage on Android, or in your browser's local storage on the web. It is never uploaded to us. Each account on a device has its own separate storage, so another person signing in on the same phone or browser cannot see your charts.
If you turn on the app lock, your PIN is stored only as a salted hash in the phone's secure Keystore. The morning digest and festival alerts are scheduled on the phone itself; their text is prepared on the device.
3. What leaves your device

Nothing else is sent; birth details never leave your device. There is no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or social-media tracking in the app or the website.
4. Files you create
PDF, Word, text, image and backup files are created on your device and saved or shared only where you choose. A backup file contains your saved profiles and settings; keep it private.
5. Android permissions
Internet (place search and updates), notifications (morning digest and festival alerts, only if you turn them on), biometric unlock (only if you turn on the app lock), and running scheduled tasks (to keep the digest scheduled). The app does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or storage permissions. Android cloud backup of app data is turned off, so your birth details are not copied to your Google Drive backup.
6. Your rights and how to delete your data
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA you may access, correct, export and erase your personal data. Because everything is stored on your device, you can do this yourself at any time: More → Privacy → Export my data or Delete all my data for your charts, and your profile picture (top right) → Manage account → Security → Delete account to delete your account and the sign-in details Clerk holds. You can do the same on the website. Uninstalling the app or clearing the website's storage also removes the charts on that device.
7. Children
Kundali Darpan is not directed at children under 13. Parents may create charts for their children; those details also stay on the parent's device.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
